9 Dark Ambient Songs Worth Checking Out

This is by no means a list meaning to deliver any ‘best’ or ‘top’ songs. My only attempt is to convince some of you that Dark Ambient may be enjoyed as music and if you already are a fan then I hope you will fancy at least some of my recommendations. This genre, while often considered unappealing and rejected by many, has moments of pure beauty to offer and it is my only wish to guide you in this direction.

Peter Bjärgö – LT-NY38A

Caul – Lay Your Shadows on the Sundials

Bruno Sanfilippo – The Gray Umbrella

Inner Vision Laboratory – Swarm Palace

[distopia] – Dod Kalm

Phelios – External Control

Worms of the Earth – Luciferian Sabbat

Dahlia’s Tear – Entrance to Dreamsphere

Lamia Vox – Lapis Occultus

I’d like to take a moment to say a big thank you to Kalpamantra, a digital Dark Ambient label without whose mission to share and popularize this music I most probably wouldn’t have discovered many of these songs. You can find more on the label on their Bandcamp, Facebook or Soundcloud and be sure to pay a visit and explore the vast sea of dark waters there to be found if you enjoyed the above selection.
