Slowdive Return With Their First Song In 22 Years!

British shoegaze/dream pop legends Slowdive have shared a new song today titled “Star Roving”. This is their first release since 1995’s Pygmalion, and a preview of their upcoming album.

The song represents Slowdive in their prime, pushing forward with a deadly pace, yet remaining airy, lightweight and blurry, just like their cult records from the 1990s. Still, you can hear that the band has matured and gained experience from their other bands and side projects like Mojave 3, Minor Victories or Monster Movie. It should go without saying that the new record is much anticipated over at Arctic Drones!

After almost two decades of absence, Slowdive reunited in 2014 for a series of shows around the world including appearances at major festivals such as Primavera Sound Festival, Roskilde and the FYF Fest. According to the singer/guitarist Neil Halstead:

“[…] it feels as fun, and as relevant playing together now as it did when we first started.”

Speaking of the new music Halstead said:

“When the band decided to get back together in 2014 we really wanted to make new music. It’s taken us a whole load of shows and a few false starts to get to that point, but it’s with pride and a certain trepidation we unleash Star Roving.”

Slowdive’s new album is slated to be released by Dead Oceans later this year:
