The iconic Icelandic band is reissuing Ágætis Byrjun as a limited edition box set in early summer for the album’s 16th anniversary.
Sigur Rós is a band that many of us may have begun their post-rock journey with. It’s hard to believe, but the album that helped them take off both commercially and critically, Ágætis Byrjun, is turning sixteen this year! To mark the occasion, the Icelanders are planning to release a special expanded edition of their second album which will include previously unheard studio and live material as well as documentaries and photographs. Full details have yet to be announced, but the album is supposedly due sometime in early summer.
As their website says: “It will be a beautiful thing to behold, and the last word in completist editions of Sigur Rós catalogue releases”. You can read the whole statement and sign up for updates here: http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk
