In two days, Boston instrumental rockers Pray For Sound will release their long awaited third album, Everything is Beautiful, but before that happens they share with us a play through video of their single Everywhere, Everywhere with attached to it a new song from the record, called Congratulations, You’re Alive.
This play-through video is a fragment lifted from a bigger video session that shows the band playing all songs from Everything is Beautiful in a cabin in the woods, where they also wrote the majority of the record. The full video will be made available to the people who pre-ordered Everything is Beautiful, while parts of the video will be released to the public in the weeks following the album’s release.
Joining the band for this video session, and also on the record, is Nick Campbell (Landing Feet First) who provides auxiliary percussion to flesh out Steve Aliperta’s drumming. Playing in a band with two drummers poses a great challenge, but Pray for Sound do an excellent job in pulling it off. Compared to the record, the songs sound more raw, but there’s also more room for groovy playing and little licks on the side. The video is fun to watch – normally I’m not able to finish a play-through video, but this video has kept me watching, multiple times. Both songs really come alive here in the room where they were conceived for the first time. Especially Congratulations, You’re Alive exposes the band’s math rock side really well.
Everything is Beautiful releases on September 23, but remember that some of the pre-order bundles, as well as specific color variants of the t-shirts will not be available for sale after the record is released. So head over to the Pray for Sound web store (if you’re in the US), or to the Dunk! festival web store (if you’re in the EU) to check out the pre-orders.
